I joined Bunzl Retail Supplies in October 2017. Prior to Bunzl I had worked for 20 years in the Warehousing and Logistics sector mainly in home delivery for online retailers, this included 1 person and 2 person delivery.
My role today is Head of Operations for our Agecroft service centre in Manchester. This means I am responsible for the overall day to day running of the Operational Warehouse and all the activity involved. Therefore, each day I am responsible for making sure that the team receives, unloads, picks, packs and despatches every order that is placed by our customers within its specific timescales, in order to fulfil the required service.
I joined initially as a Customer Account Manager for our largest customer. I then moved to our fastest growing customer as an Account Manager. I then discussed in my review my ambition to return to an operational role. A new role of Operations Service Manager was created and I was delighted to be appointed to that role in April 2020. I was then promoted to Head of Operational Service in February 2022 before starting in my new Head of Operations role in January 2023.
There are two things that I love most about working for Bunzl, the first is the variety that comes with my current role, every day is different in some way and brings along its own challenges, whether this is related to our business as usual orders or unique customer requests. The second is the people, right from my first day with Bunzl, I was made to feel so welcome, I was given a buddy to help me with settling in and when I was struggling to get my head around new systems and terminology, there was always someone on hand to help out. This continues today, over 5 years later with a great team around me to help and support.
