I joined Bunzl Retail Supplies (properly) in March 2012. Before this I did temporary work for Bunzl Retail Supplies in some of my holidays from University in Customer Service and Finance.  Prior to joining Bunzl Retail Supplies, I worked part-time while at University for a Card company whilst studying English Literature at Lancaster University.

My role today is Supply Chain Planning Manager. My days are always different, there are always different things to be done and still new things to learn. What I do now has progressed from being a customer focused day-to-day planner, to having my focus on multiple customers, the business, and our team. I enjoy helping support the team to achieve what they are doing.

I started off in Finance, working in Accounts Payable when I was on an Easter break from University, I then came back and worked in Customer Support for my 3 months summer holiday, I returned to Customer Support during my Christmas Holiday. I have also worked in Order Processing when it was a manual process.  I covered other people’s holidays and called stores who hadn’t placed an order to act as a reminder to see if they required one before the cut off time passed. I came back for my final Easter holiday before finishing University and helped in Finance for Accounts Payable – again to cover holidays. It was a great way for me to get large company experience and learn extra skills. After I finished University I returned to Bunzl Retail Supplies in Procurement completing administration, it was meant to be for a couple of weeks but it turned into 6 months. From there I moved back to finance to Accounts Payable, as I’d enjoyed my time and a role became available, I was part of the team for just over 2 years. From here I moved into Supply Chain as a Supply Chain Planner, working on a large customer responsible for their day-to-day replenishment requirements and a new concept we introduced supporting their new store launch kit requirements. I’ve worked across most of our customers. In June 2023 I got the role I’m in now, in total I’m approaching 15 years’ service (including the initial holiday work).

I really like that there are always opportunities to be part of more things, for me this includes being part of our Inspiring Women In Bunzl (IWIB) group. In Bunzl Retail Supplies we work hard to make sure we do our best for our customers and internal teams but we also come together and have fun. I really enjoy the MAGIC events and activities that we do that help to make days different and get us mixing with colleagues in different teams, I think it’s great that every year it’s a new MAGIC Team helping to create MAGIC moments for all; having been a part of the MAGIC team myself I’d recommend it! It’s great for building relationships with people you might not usually get a chance to speak too. I like that there are always new things to learn and projects to be a part of, and that you can spend time in a different area asking questions to build your knowledge.
