I started working for Bunzl Retail Supplies in August 2001. Prior to joining Bunzl Retail Supplies, I worked in furniture upholstering.
My role today is a class 1 HGV multi-drop driver. On a day-to-day basis my role requires me to collect a fully loaded artic truck destined for a different part of the UK. I drive to that area and deliver as per my route for the day direct to our customers stores.
I started at Bunzl Retail Supplies as a picker at a previous site in Heywood. I then moved across to the Agecroft Manchester facility, initially responsible for Hygiene in the Operation, from there I progressed to picker, and I then changed to the Reach & Counterbalance Manual Handling Equipment in the Operation. I then moved to goods-in as a Goods-In Operative, I was also trained to use the Terborg as a Yard Shunter, and finally I progressed to my current role as a class 1 HGV multi drop driver, my role can be challenging but it is enjoyable. This final opportunity was possible thanks to a Bunzl Retail Supplies Development Programme called ‘Warehouse to Wheels’.
I have made good friends in my time at Bunzl. They have a good benefits scheme and it is local to me, and Bunzl have invested in me, which means a lot to me and my family.
