I joined Bunzl Retail Supplies in April 2022. Prior to Bunzl I did my undergraduate studies at the University of Liverpool; I studied Mathematics and Economics. In the year before joining Bunzl, I completed my Master’s in Economics, at the University of Liverpool. Part of this overlapped with me working part time with the UK Government test & trace (during the pandemic).
My role today is Commercial Finance Assistant. On a day-to-day basis, my role involves a lot of data analytics and manipulation (I live in excel!); and as a result I’m already very comfortable in my knowledge in the data we have and application of the various systems we use – this is fundamental to my role. A key aspect of the role is to ensure Bunzl Retail Supplies is profitable, and that new business is viable, it is a critical part of this role. To closely understand the company costs versus the data originally provided by the customer, as well as ensuring our products are correctly priced. I also complete reporting and insight for warehouse operations and logistics.
This is my first role but being in the Commercial Finance Team means that I am in the unique position of being able to work side-by-side with many of the other departments regularly.
The Commercial Finance team have a good rapport and all our ideas are valid. This is very important for me to feel valued as a team member. Bunzl Retail Supplies has a highly amiable and collaborative working environment. I was drawn to the scale of operations at Bunzl, we are an industry leader in what we do. As this is my first role in industry post-graduation, I was pleasantly surprised at the level of involvement I have had in various elements of how the business is run. The hybrid working approach is a positive aspect of working for Bunzl Retail Supplies in the role that I have as it allows for flexibility and better productivity.
